From October 21-23rd, Nick Page, a professional composer, conductor, author, and song leader, worked with Macomb students. In assemblies, classes, and family sing nights, Mr. Page worked with Macomb School District students from Lincoln, Edison, Macomb Jr. High, and Macomb Sr. High Schools. Students performed multicultural songs and dances as well as patriotic songs such as "This Land is Your Land."
Mr. Page's educational approach focuses on multicultural and multisensory learning. He effectively gets all students to participate in moving to and singing songs from many different cultures, and he teaches the students about the cultural traditions of these songs. He was a conductor with the Chicago Children's Choir and he currently directs the Mystic Chorale of Boston as well as leading sings and workshops throughout the Americas and Europe. He has guest conducted at many festivals and concert venues including Carnegie Hall. He is the author of three books for teachers His articles have appeared in numerous music journals. Nick has over fifty published choral pieces.
This event was funded by Macomb Educational Foundation, Macomb Choir Boosters, Lincoln School PTO, and Edison School PTO. Teachers ask that you please continue to support the fundraising efforts of these organizations that bring such quality programs to our students. The Macomb Educational Foundation sells coupon sheets that raise funds for Macomb students. They are available for purchase from the schools and retailers who honor the coupons.
