Choir Concert Reminders tomorrow, Swing Choir auditions, New MACOMB MUSIC shirts

Dear Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade Choir Parents,

Just some gentle reminders about our concert tomorrow, Tuesday, May 8th.

The students will be asked to be in their assigned seats in Fellheimer Auditorium tomorrow, Tuesday, May 8th by 6:45 pm in their Macomb Music Shirts, Black Pants, Black socks/shoes. Swing Choir students should wear their suspenders (boys) and hair bows (girls). In order for students to get full credit for the concert, students need to stay for the duration of the performances. The concert is a little over an hour in length.

A note about parking: This concert will be very crowded and the parking lot will be full. If you could car pool or if families could arrange to come in one car, that will be most helpful. We will not open seating for the public until 6:35 pm as the auditorium needs to be secure because of our equipment and instruments.

I have also attached information for swing choir auditions for next school year. Students do need to be enrolled choir to be in swing choir. There is a clinic to learn the dance on Thursday, May 17th from 3:10 – 4:00 pm and the auditions are on Monday, May 21st beginning at 3:10 in the auditorium.

Finally, we wanted you to be aware that we will be switching shirts next year to a primarily black polo (so that the district is all black and orange). The uniform will be black polo (with Macomb Music embroidered on it), khaki pants, black shoes and socks. The cost of the shirt will be comparable to previous years. You will receive more details about the shirts as they become available.

YES – THERE IS A CHOIR CONCERT TONIGHT!

Dear Parents and Students,

I spoke to Mr. Rumley this morning and we WILL still have our Spring choir concert tonight beginning at 7:30 pm in Fellheimer auditorium. An official notice from the school district will be sent out later today. Please see the revised call time schedule below.

5:30 pm Men's Ensemble and Madrigals on stage

6:00 pm Mixed Chorus and Concert Choir on the stage

7:15 pm Yearbook pictures for Madrigals, Jazz, and Men's on stage

7:30 pm Concert begins

Composer, Dr. Phyllis Wolfe White, arrived in town yesterday and is looking forward to the premier of our commissioned work, Sing a Prayer, written in honor of Richard Nott, late husband of our accompanist, Sharon Nott. Dr. Wolfe White will be working with our students tomorrow during class time.

  • Students making posters for the senior choir members: bring your poster to the call time and hang it in the lobby on the brick wall nearest the outside entrance.

HS Choir update

Dear parents,

Just a few reminders about upcoming events in "choir land"….

Monday, May 7th 1st hour full rehearsal with all 9-12th grade students

We will have a full rehearsal with students from Mixed Chorus, Concert Choir, Mrs. Nott and our visiting composer, Phyllis Wolfe White during first hour on Monday. Students will not need to check in with their first hour teachers but instead will report directly to the auditorium. They will finish by 8:56 am

Monday, May 7th Spring Concert Information

Our Spring Concert will be Monday, May 7th at 7:30 pm in Fellheimer Auditorium. *Please note the later start time. This is a required 4th quarter grade and is worth 200 points.

We will be taking yearbook pictures for Madrigals, Jazz Voices and Men's Ensemble since we were unable to take them earlier this year in the auditorium.

Call Times-

In the auditorium for pictures:

6:45 pm – Madrigals, Jazz Voices and Men's Ensemble

In the choir room:

7:00 pm – all 9-12 grade students (in uniform/robe and ready to sing)

  • I am looking for a few parents who would be willing to sit in the back of the auditorium with the students and monitor any talking, texting, etc. Thank you in advance! ☺

Tuesday, May 8th Junior High Choir Concert

Concert begins at 7:00 pm in Fellheimer Auditorium. Men's Ensemble will perform.

Tuesday, May 15th Madrigal, Men's Ensemble and Jazz Voices Auditions

Auditions for the 2012-2013 school year Madrigal Singers, Men's Ensemble and Jazz Voices will be on May 15th from 3:15-7:00 pm There is an informational sheet in the choir room with requirements along with a sign-up sheet.

  • 2012-2013 Rehearsal Times: Madrigals will rehearse on Mon/Wed from 3:15-4:00 pm

Jazz Voices will rehearse on Tues/Thurs from 3:15-4:00 pm

Men's Ensemble will rehearse Tues/Thurs at lunch time.

Saturday, May 19th Graduation

Concert Choir will be performing at Graduation on Saturday, May 19th at 7:30 pm

Call Times: Sophomores and Juniors: Be there at 7:10 pm; be in your seats at 7:15 pm

Dress: Sophomores and Juniors: Choir Robe AND Stoll! Black bottoms, black nylons,

black shoes. Please dress nicely!

Seniors: Graduation robe, any bottoms and any shoes

Grade: This is a required performance for Concert Choir Members and is worth 100 points.

Dear Choir Parents,

There are still seats left if you are still interested in sitting with a choir during the concert on Tuesday, May 8th. I especially need help with the 7th and 8th grade students.

If you could arrive at 6:40 pm, take attendance, and sit with the students, that would be great! ☺ If I could have a seventh grade parent offer to sit with the 8th graders, that would be wonderful as the eighth grade parents get special seating for this concert.

This is a great way for you to bond with middle school students!

Dear Choir Parents,

If you could help in any way (below), we would most appreciate it!

  • We are in need of a few parents to sit with (and among) the students for the spring concert on Tuesday, May 8th. You would need to come a little prior to their call time, take attendance, and monitor behavior.
  • If any parent would be willing to video tape the concert and post it on YouTube, we would love a volunteer.
  • Please remember if Ms. Heather Telford has contacted you about hospitality for this concert.
  • Parents of eighth grade students will have reserved seating in the first few rows of the auditorium. The parent's of 8th graders are honored at the end of the program.
  • All students are required to stay for the duration of the concert to receive their full 200 points.

If you can help chaperone or videotape/post to YouTube, I would be eternally grateful.

Choir and band rehearsals

May 2, 2012

Dear Choir Parents,

We will be having "FULL CHOIR" (so band students come to choir) on Thursday and Friday of this week (May 3rd and May 4th). On Monday, May 7th, band students will attend band. Then on concert day, Tuesday, May 8th, the sixth graders will come to Edison, then be transported to the high school via bus to rehearse in Fellheimer. We will bus them to and from Fellheimer. St. Paul students need to arrange to have their rides pick them up from the high school (Fellheimer entrance) at 9:00 am

Also, on Tuesday at 9:00 am, 7th grade chorus members will come to the auditorium to rehearse with Mrs. Nott for the concert. The teachers are aware of this and have approved this rehearsal. Mrs. Nott can't attend their regular rehearsal that day due to her final exam schedule at WIU>
