Choir Handbook Sheets and Back to school nights

August 30, 2010

Dear Parents,

We are off and running for the 2010-2011 academic year. ☺ Just a few important reminders for you for the week.

  1. All choir handbook permission slips are due tomorrow for a grade. We have reminded the students every day in class. This is a grade for them to have these sheets returned signed. ☺
  2. You may turn in money and permission slips for The Lion King with the handbook sheets. We made it due on Sept. 2nd so you could have a payday on the first if needed. If you have the money and slips, you may send it early.
  3. Back to school night for the junior high is tonight (Monday). Choir and Band meeting is 5:45 – 6:15 pm in the auditorium.
  4. Back to school night for Edison is Thursday, September 2, at 7:00 pm
  5. Choir Booster meeting is Thursday, September 2, at 5:00 pm in room 152 (choir room) at MJSHS.

Madrigal rehearsal change for Monday 8/31

Dear Parents and students,

Due to an important NHS meeting after school on Monday that most members of Madrigals need to attend, our Madrigal rehearsal will begin at 3:40 pm and run until 4:15 pm. Please note that this is not a permanent change.

High School Choir Update

August 27, 2010

Dear Parents,

  • I have attached a copy of the choir lesson schedule for next week (August 30-September 3). All students enrolled in choir are asked to attend a weekly group choir lesson. If a student cannot attend their lesson due to a test, lab, etc, they are asked to either reschedule with me or fill out a lesson excuse form. Please note: Students are not allowed to leave their math classes this year for choir or band lessons. If their lesson is scheduled during their class, I am asking students to reschedule with me.
  • Attached is a rehearsal schedule for those students involved in Madrigals, Jazz Voices and Men's Ensemble. Rehearsals begin next week (August 30-September 3). Also, please remember to pay the $30 activity fee for Madrigals and Jazz. (Men's Ensemble does not have to pay a fee.)
  • Just a reminder that choir handbook sheets and money are due this Wednesday, September 1st.
  • Forms and money for our optional choir trip to see The Lion King are due this Thursday, September 2nd.
  • Choir Booster Meeting – Our first choir booster meeting for the year will be this Thursday, September 2nd at 5:00 pm in the choir room. The east entrance will be unlocked and we encourage you to attend. Hope to see you there!

Attached is a PDF version of the high school choir handbook. If you cannot open the PDF file, the students will get a hard copy of the handbook the first day of school. The handbook contains requirements, calendar of events, permission slips and information about our optional field trip to see The Lion King.

So, we thought it would be nice if we sent it to you ahead of time so you can perhaps get this paperwork out of the way. Dear Parents and Students,

A select group of students from each school have been asked to perform at the Teacher Opening Day Presentation on Monday, August 23rd. This will be a performance for all Macomb School Day Presentation employees and teachers. To prepare for our performance, we have schedule one rehearsal since most, if not all of you, have sung these songs before.

Below is the rehearsal and performance information. We understand that some of you may be out of town and if you cannot attend, please let us know ASAP so that we can fill your spot for this performance.
