Dear Parents,
As you might know, Mrs. Stegall and I are BIG believers in summer choral camps to help students improve their skills (and have fun). A great deal of our budget for Macomb Choir Boosters goes to choir camp scholarships . Last year we spent roughly $6000.00 on scholarships to help students afford camps. I know that many of you are getting your summers organized so I wanted to give you some dates and information about the choral camps.
There are three camps that I recommend:
Western Illinois University Summer Choral Camp – it is local and not as expensive (not to mention it is a great camp)
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp – it is in Michigan and is real camp. Cabins, walking to the mess hall, etc.
The University of Illinois' Summer Music Camp – good camp on the campus of the University of Illinois
Camps are not required, but I do think they help the students grow!
Thanks!

Hi!
Attached is the choir lesson schedule for next week. Please note that the lessons are for those students participating in a Treble or Bass Ensemble. Lesson Excuse forms are not required next week.
Also, if you are taking a solo to contest and you are not studying with a private teacher, I need to hear you sing your solo by Monday afternoon.
Thanks and have a wonderful weekend!

Dear Parents,
Just a reminder that the dessert auction volunteer forms are due on Thursday, Jan 22nd (this Thursday). I realize that snow (cold) days can allow deadlines to creep up on us. I am happy to take the form electronically if you want to alter it and send it back to me via the email~!
Thanks!

Dear Parents,
Attached is a letter regarding our upcoming Dessert Auction/Pops Concert on Monday, February 9th from 5:30-8:00 pm in the MJSHS Commons. This is a Macomb Choir Booster fundraiser. We are asking parents if they would be willing to donate either a dessert(s), a monetary donation, and/or volunteer your time during the auction. As always, your support is greatly appreciated!
Please note that the dessert auction sheets are due back on Thursday, January 22.
Sincerely,
Melanie Butcher and Erin Stegall

Dear Parents,
I am sorry that a few of you didn't get the word that there was no swing choir on Monday. I did announce it in rehearsal prior to break and I put it in my concert letter for December. I do know that December does get hecitic and those details can fall through the cracks! I hope that they weren't freezing outside!
In January, we will only have Wednesday after school rehearsals from 3:10 – 4:00 – no Monday mornings. I will do tomorrow's snack, but the following folks are "on snack duty" for this month:
Wednesday, January 14th – Jessica Thurman
Wednesday, January 21st – Olivia Arnold
Wednesday, January 28th – Eli Blasi
If you have Publisher, you can open the attachment and go to page five for January!
Since we start our teach days at Edison, I know the storage of the snacks can be tough. If they are portable, students can put them in their lockers. Or, some teachers (with permission) will allow students to store things in their rooms for after school. Or, sometimes we will work at the high school prior going to Edison and we leave the choir room door unlocked (with the lights off).
Thanks again! Hope you had a great holiday!
Erin
