Macomb Choir Boosters Monthly Meeting Minutes, November 2009

Members present: John Meixner, Marilyn Olsen, Cindy Roon, Jamie Lane, Katie Musick, Donella Anderson, Melanie Butcher, Erin Stegall, Amber Dodds, Cheryl Baker

The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm by John Meixner. The October minutes were approved by Donella and seconded by Cindy. The minutes were sent out to members online and a copy was also available at the meeting. Donella gave the treasurer's report which was approved by Jamie and seconded by Marilyn.

Erin and Melanie gave a report on the Nick Page visit, including the financial report .The concerts were very well received, even in the midst of the flu outbreak. Nick sent a letter saying how much he enjoyed working with Erin, Melanie and the Macomb students.

The district choral festival will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7th at WIU. Students should be picked up for lunch or pack their own food because of the large number of students who will be trying to eat on campus. The concert will be at 4:00 pm in Western Hall.

The Poinsettia sale is in progress. Sheryl Hanson will need help collecting money on November 10th at Edison and the Jr/Sr High. Melanie will email parents to help collect money at both schools, as well as to help unload and sort orders on Dec !st.

The samples submitted for the choir letterhead contest were presented by Erin. The members voted on a winner: Keeley Musick will receive a $15.00 ITunes gift card; the 2nd and 3rd place winners (Grant Reed and MacKenzie Hocker) will receive $5.00 each.

The choir room still needs a printer but the administration is deciding if a printer is necessary, or if the choir teachers should use the printer in the teachers' workroom. This discussion will continue next month.

Auditions for the variety show will be held on Nov. 16th from 5-9. The show will be on November 21st at 7:00 pm The cost will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. The profits will go to the Loaves and Fishes.

The auditions for the spring musical, Music Man, will be held on Nov 17th (reading), 18th ( dance and sing) and 19th(call backs). Mr Krehbiel will be directing with Melanie helping with the singing. The performances will be on April 8,9,10.

The choir trip to Chicago to see the musical, Billy Elliott, will be on April 24th. Money for the trip is due on Dec 15th. Katie asked if we ever had garage sales to help raise money for the trip. This will be discussed in the future if there is enough interest.

The next meeting will be on TUESDAY, Dec 1st on the stage at 5:00 pm during the distribution of the poinsettia plants.
