Macomb Choir Boosters Monthly Meeting Minutes, April 2009

April 2, 2009

Members present: Erin Stegall, Melanie Butcher, John Meixner, Sandy Larimer, Marilyn Olsen, Cheryl Baker, Jamie Lane, Cheryl McGowen, Cindy Roon and Amanda Lewis.

The April Choir Boosters' Meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm Sandy Larimer gave the treasurer's report. No secretary's report was given due to the absence of the secretary at the March meeting.

Old Business

Erin and Melanie reported that the Mary Poppins trip went well, and the musical was excellent. It was discussed whether or not to use Burlington Trailways bus service again due to minor problems. Peoria Charters is another possible bus company which has great service but is also more expensive.

Scheduling workers for the Organizational Contest at MHS for April 4th was discussed. There were enough workers scheduled for the morning, but a few more workers were needed to help with tear down/clean up around noon.

Junior High Contest is Friday May 1st from 1:00-9:00 pm Workers are needed for concessions, hall monitors, room monitors, homeroom monitors, guides for choirs, performance room monitors, set up/tear down crew and office help.

Choir Boosters Camp Scholarships were discussed. In view of our sound financial status, we hope to be able to give more scholarship money to all students interested in going to camp this year.

It was suggested that we include HyVee in our poinsettia bid next fall. Last year we used Niemans.

John Meixner needs the slate of Choir Boosters officers for the 2009-2010 season by May. There will be positions open for Vice-president and treasurer.

New Business

Erin requested that we purchase new cords for recording equipment; the old ones are falling apart. She also needs new headphones to replace the ones that were stolen from the HS choir room, a CD player for Edison and is looking into buying a folder cabinet for the Junior High Choir. She will look into prices for the needed equipment and report back in May.

It was agreed to give a monitary donation to Sharon Nott and Ron Drummond for playing at the Solo/Ensemble Contest. Their hard work is greatly appreciated.

It was agreed that we want to bring in another inspirational children's singer/entertainer next year. Lincoln School wants to be included in our plans. Although Nick Page was a great choice for last year, we would like to try to find someone else this year for a little variety, and possible bring Nick back another year. Erin and Melanie will be thinking about who else might be a good choice to come.

The May meeting will be held on May 14th at 5:00. The meeting was adjourned at 5:45.

  • Jr High Organizational Contest at MHS on Friday, May 1st, 1-9:00 pm
  • High School Spring Concert – Tuesday May 5th, 7:00 pm
  • Junoir High School Spring Concert – Thursday, May 7th
  • MHS Graduation – Saturday, May 23, 7:30 pm
