January 8, 2009
No minutes were read from the brief December meeting on the stage during the poinsettia pick-up, as nothing was discussed in any detail. All topics were deferred to the January meeting.
The treasurer's report was given by Sandy Larimer. The present members agreed to give $500 activity account money to each the junior high and high school choir teachers.
Old business started with Dee and Cheryl discussing the Dessert Auction preparations. Dee said she would get notes from Bobby Morrison about last year's preparations. It was suggested that we should get quotes on pizza prices from Aurelios, Dominos and LarryA's since all 3 have students in the school. Dee will check with Aramark in regards to using the pizza warmers and paper products. Kathy Burdick volunteered to check in the cakes and put numbers on them. Jamie agreed to help her. Dee and Cheryl will be working on finding auctioneers and a bid recorder. Sam Clayton will be asked to run the sound system again. An e-mail will be sent out to choir parents for donations.
High school students going to All State for the first time will receive a deluxe music folder with their name embossed on the front. Those going for the second year will receive a pitch pipe. The students will eat at Avanti's on Wed eve with choir and band boosters splitting the cost.
The choir room printer is not working and a new one is needed. John suggested that they price a new one through the school catalog, and bring the information to the next meeting. Erin would also like to buy an Elmo for the choir room which will cost about $600. She will check with the school district for the exact cost.
Erin and Melanie are working on finding chaperones for both the Mary Poppins trip and the Solo and Ensemble contest.
Organizational contests for both the Jr and Sr high will be held in Macomb. Band will take care of refreshments. This will be discussed in more detail next month.
The Performing Arts scholarship information for summer camps needs to be sent out to the students earlier than it was last year.
John thinks he should be the one to send out information to the parents by e-mail about Choir Boosters activities, rather than leaving this for Erin and Melanie. He needs a list of the HS choir parents.
A thank you note was received from the Loaves and Fishes for the food donation in December.
