posted April 17, 2012

Macomb High School's production of South Pacific will be hitting the high seas on April 19, 20, and 21 at Macomb High School's Fellheimer Auditorium! Popular favorites like "There Is Nothin' Like a Dame", "I'm Gonna Wash That Man" and "Bali Ha'I" will be performed by a cast of over 60 Macomb High School students.

Performances will be at 7:30 pm each evening (April 19, 20, and 21) with a 2:00 pm matinee on Saturday, April 21.

Advanced tickets will be available for sale from 5:00 to 6:30 pm April 10-12 and April 16-18 in the Fellheimer Auditorium lobby . Tickets will also be sold one hour before each performance. The producers of South Pacific would like to honor all WWII and Korean veterans by allowing them a free ticket to the show. Tickets for these veterans must be picked up in advance and will not be available at the door. Ticket prices: $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for students and children.

Summer Music Camp Scholarships

posted March 26, 2012

Dear choir parents,

You may know that the Macomb Choir Boosters gives thousands of dollars each year for interested students to attend summer music camp. We know that this is the time when you are making decisions about your summer plans. We hope that your child continues their vocal/choral study and considers attending a choir or vocal camp this summer. We highly recommend WIU's summer music camp as a number of local students attend the camp, and we teach at the camp. However, we also like ISYM and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. However, students may use their scholarship money to attend any approved vocal or choral camp.

Attached is a PDF of the 2012 Macomb Choir Boosters Choral Camp Scholarship application if your child is interested applying for a scholarship. WIU's site also had additional scholarship monies for students who are looking for scholarship money.

We will give more information to the students in class; but if you wanted to being "surfing," here is the information about the camps we recommend.

Thanks so much!

WIU Junior Honor Chorus 2012 Score Preparation Information and Updates

posted January 11, 2012

Dear WIU Honor Junior High Choir Parents,

All of the students have received their honor choir music, and below is a link to help them prepare for the festival. We will help them learn the music some at school, but the students are ultimately responsible for learning their music.

WIU Junior Honors Chorus 2011 Preparation Information

It is important to note that at the festival, students must sing the music on their correct parts from memory when they arrive with competence. If they can't, they will be sent home from the festival. This is a true honor choir where the students are held to a high standard, which is why we gave the students the music two months in advance of the Friday, March 23, festival.

Regarding transportation, I am going to get a parking permit for each family for the day at WIU. I am trying to arrange my schedule so that I can be with them; however, I may have to teach in the morning at Edison (it is the day of the Edison Fine Arts Concert) and then meet the students at WIU. I will keep you posted on that details so that you can arrange transportation if need be.

This is so exciting that we have so many students participating. It will be a great day!

Thanks much!

Erin Stegall
